Anyone who’s received email in the last decade has seen these “I have money to give away” ploys. Of course, all of them involve you giving them money, first, or, they’ll send you a counterfeit cashier’s check for “too much” and ask you to send them the difference.

Anyway, this was the funniest one I’d received in a while, maybe ever! My favorite line: “I have Lung Cancer, which has geometrically been eroding my life.”

    Dear ,
I am Mrs. Dorathy Benson, 76yrs old of age,USA.I am a good
merchant, and investor who had share in various banks in the
world. I spent all my life on investment and cooperate business
both in Asia, Europe and America here. I am a very unhappy
person because I lost my husband and two beautiful children in
    Plane Crash years back.
I am a very greedy woman who I never knew much or cared about
people. But my numerous afflictions have exposed me to untold
hardship as well as the realities of life, that we live in a
World we sharing and caring matter. I have found it increasingly
difficult to sleep and my soul has not known peace and rest.
Later part of the year 2005 February a medical check up by my
doctor, revealed that I have Lung Cancer, which has
    geometrically been eroding my life.
In this situation it became obvious that my businesses and
numerous investments will suffer for it. I had call up a
clergyman to counsel me on positive thinking/spiritual healing
    to my situation.
Who ministered to me to share my properties, wealth, to
motherless babies/orphanage homes/people that need money for
survival, as a way of atoning for my numerous unwholesome
treatment to persons who had worked me at various times in the
process of accumulating the stupendous wealth and in giving out
everything, it must be to persons who have never had anything to
do with me. I have 17.5 million US DOLLARS to give out.
I am therefore writing based on the spiritual advise, trying to
reach out to person who are in dare need or better still who
know people in need and can assist with the distribution of my
earthly possession contact me urgently if you consider yourself
available for this charity project, so that I can make available
fund, especially helpless divorced women who hardly can survive
on a daily basis. Please contact me and stop weeping. Possibly,
let me know you need the money for, and how you intend to
utilize the money in glorifying mankind.
Now am so much with God, am now born again .May the lord bless
you, as you reach me, please to remind you I am not a scam
artiest neither is this one of those fraudulent acts on
internet. I promise to divulge more information soon on hear
    from you.
    I await your immediately response.

    Best Regards,

    Mrs Dorathy Benson.

You know, some English teacher should make students edit these things for correct GSP and usage! What a much more interesting exercise than most of the ones I remember.

There were several family photo ops today at the Luza Christmas today.

Thank you all for endulging Mom and me and the cameras. We all appreciate the images of family.

If there are any that you want made into prints, please let me know which one(s). I’ll upload them to a print service, like RitzPix, where you can order online and have them printed in your own town.

Recently, we had a special treat. In seeing to the needs of a client, I offered to make a delivery to his work. He said to call when we got there and that he would buzz me in. I dragged Emil along for the “field trip”.

…and we both made our first visit ever to an airport’s control tower! I know it’s just our “little” airport, but it was amazing! We were invited back during a busier time-frame, so we could see more activity.

We are lucky to be American citizens who can enter a facility like this. Now that I work for StarVision, I have a better grasp of these rules regarding foreign nationals and Homeland Security. I was thrilled to see the airport from such a unique point of view and to learn so very much about air traffic control. Wow!

    Thank you, Mr. Turpen
(post delayed so his daughter-in-law doesn’t know he’s ordered stuff for her for Christmas!)

This collection of pet gadgets cracks me UP.

    My favorite:

    Digital camera for dogs

Now, even the baby has his own digital camera, so the only member of the family without one is the dog. And what dog lover isn’t curious about how the world looks from their dog’s point of view? This .35 megapixel camera is worn on the collar, and you snap photos with a remote control or set it to take photos at regular intervals. See for the first time how stupid you look when you’re talking to your dog. $79 from Japan Trend Shop. (Hoyun)

Thanks to Michelle of True Blue animal rescue, Indigo found a new home with her friend Christina and her son Matthew.

We met them at the dog park last night. We talked about Indi’s habits and quirks. Matthew played with Indi and saw him interact with other dogs. After a while, they felt they could give him a good home and we felt comfortable sending him off to live with them.

Christina called later that evening with a couple of questions and said he was settling in nicely.

Indigo, we’ll miss you. We are happy that we could foster you and keep you out of the shelter system. We are thrilled that you have found the kind of land/family/home that will be best for you.

love to all who have supported us through this difficult process,

It’s been a while since we posted something funny Emil has said. It’s not for a lack of content, but more for a lack of the web nearby when he does it.
Backstory: One of my early days working at TEEX, I clicked to send an instant message to my boss, Laine. I noticed the song she was streaming in her status. It was Hanson’s “mmmmmm bop!” In spite of the fact that music streaming tries to make you listen to what they push, I found it hilarious. Naturally, I gave her a hard time, and it became a bit of a running joke.

Laine is now in Pennsylvania (and only an hour or so from New York) and is getting a couple of advanced degrees in art.

Tonight, the script went something like this:

E.T. or similar ‘duh’ music program on TV:
Who’s the next artist that’s going to kick Hanson’s ass?

    Emil:
    Laine Little!

Moral of the story: Marry someone who makes you laugh!

…and that really means all of you. (After all, we are all crafty in our own ways.)

I really like this project/cause. If you are out of ideas for a way to give back this holiday season, please consider a “woobie” for a critter. I know our cats love the crocheted-was-supposed-to-be-a-baby-blanket that lays across the foot of our bed. I also have test swatches and scrap yarn that can become a loving welcome for a critter who is nervous, scared, cold, and lonely. If you can tie a knot, you can crochet a shelter-worthy “woobie” for a critter in need.

How many will you pledge to you local (overflowing, no doubt) shelter or rescue organization?

    love,
    Lori

I go to the same convenience store and chat with the same guy every morning. He’s just a doll and one of the best examples of customer service I’ve ever seen.

Today, for the first time, he notices, admires, and compliments my Miami ring. He seems impressed. I beam a little with pride.

As I’m going to the truck, I notice a moving van parallel parked behind me. The driver is still there, and I’m not in a big hurry, so I don’t worry much about it. He rolls down his window. I think he’s going to say something about being just a minute, but instead, he says he likes the sticker on my truck. I’m a bit thrown; which sticker? Human Rights Campaign? As You Wish? Oh, the little magnet that is the Miami U! I tell him thanks and that I went there. He did a “no! really?” kind of thing and says he lived in Miami for a long time.

It was nice to be around people who are happy about where I went to school.

    Alma Mater

Southern suns and sky blue water,
    Smile upon you Alma mater;
    Mistress of this fruitful land,
With all knowledge at your hand,
    Always just to honor true,
All our love we pledge to you.
    Alma Mater, stand forever
    On Biscayne’s wondrous shore.
